Veneers

Veneers

Dental veneers are cosmetic restorations used to make changes to the contour and structure of the teeth and make them appear more pleasing. They are widely used to cover cracks, lengthen teeth that have been shortened due to excessive wear, improve the aesthetics of severely discolored teeth, eliminate excessive gaps between adjacent teeth, etc.

What are the advantages of veneers?

Veneers are made from either dental-grade ceramic or composite resin. These materials are highly customizable and can be made to mimic the exact appearance of the natural teeth, thereby keeping the restoration under disguise.

Although veneers are relatively thin and may seem fragile, they offer excellent durability and functionality when bonded to the teeth. They may wear only as much as the natural enamel, which is negligible.

Veneers do not stain, as they are made from dental-grade materials. Their surface finish is so smooth that there are no pores where the staining particles could get dislodged, leaving them as good as new for many years together.

How is a veneer fabricated?

The dentist will conduct a thorough diagnosis of your oral condition and determine your candidacy for implants. Few factors considered while deciding this are the extent of damage to the teeth, receding gum line, the strength of the teeth, etc. A thin layer of enamel will be removed by grinding the teeth to make space for the veneer. Oral scans and x-rays will be taken to create a digital impression of the teeth, which will be used for fabricating the veneer.

Once the veneers are ready, you will have to return to our office so that the dentist can place the final veneers. After bonding the veneers, it will be checked for fit and comfort and polished if required to make it appear as natural as possible.
